KATSEYE confirmed that member Sophia Laforteza is taking a temporary break from group activities to focus on her health, just days before the group’s new EP, Wild, arrives on August 13. In a statement posted to Weverse, the group said Laforteza would be unable to join upcoming promotional activities, noting that medical professionals had advised dedicated time for rest and recovery, with her condition to be reassessed in September.
Laforteza shared her own message on Instagram, saying the decision wasn’t easy but that prioritizing her health now would let her keep performing long-term. She was absent from the Los Angeles premiere of the group’s documentary *Katseye: Wild Hearts” this past week; bandmate Lara Raj told press on the carpet that Laforteza wasn’t feeling well but sent her love to fans. The hiatus follows a similar temporary break taken by member Manon Bannerman earlier this year.
KATSEYE — formed via HYBE’s The Debut: Dream Academy in 2023 — has built momentum through Hot 100 entries “Gnarly” and “Gabriela,” and is preparing for the Wildworld Tour this fall. The group says it remains committed to its release schedule while Laforteza recovers.
