Heart’s Ann Wilson is set to release Consecrated Ground, a nine-track album and her second studio collaboration with her solo band Tripsitter, part of a busy August for veteran rock releases. The announcement comes as Wilson has been touring in support of the documentary In My Voice, pairing performances with audience Q&A sessions along the way.
The new record continues Wilson’s recent stretch of solo output outside of Heart, giving one of rock’s most powerful vocalists room to explore material separate from the band’s arena-rock catalog. It arrives alongside a wider wave of legacy-artist activity this month: John Fogerty is expanding his multiplatinum Centerfield album with live recordings, Kiss are reviving a signature 1970s-style live show, and Weezer, Genesis, and Marillion members are all releasing new music of their own in August.
For longtime Heart fans, Consecrated Ground offers a chance to hear Wilson’s songwriting outside the band’s familiar format, continuing a solo run that has let her experiment more freely with arrangement and tone.
