Amana Melome’ Turns a Chapter of Transformation into Celebration with Recalibrated: The Remixes

There are moments in an artist’s career when looking back becomes less about nostalgia and more about recognising just how far you have travelled. For Amana Melome’, RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES is one of those moments.

Released on 25 September 2026, the album takes the music of her RECALIBRATION era and gives it a new sense of movement. Across a collection of remixes, Melome’ explores different interpretations of her sound, moving through soulful, electronic, jazz and global influences while retaining the emotional core of the original material.

The result feels less like a conventional remix project and more like a celebration of evolution.

At the centre of the record is “SO DONE”, a bold statement about leaving behind old patterns and refusing to make yourself smaller. With its new interpretation, the track becomes an energetic expression of independence — the sound of an artist deciding that she no longer needs to apologise for taking up space.

Then there is “Space Age Mama Jama RECALIBRATED”, perhaps the most significant piece of the project. Originally the first song Melome’ ever recorded, the track returns more than a decade later with an entirely new perspective.

The difference is not simply in the production. It is in the artist herself.

The original Space Age Mama Jama introduced an idea of a fierce, playful and unapologetic woman. The new version finds Melome’ stepping fully into that character. It turns an old song into a reflection of personal growth — proof that sometimes we have to become the person we once imagined before we can truly understand the music we created.

That sense of full-circle storytelling gives RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES its strongest emotional thread.

Melome’ has always occupied an interesting space within contemporary music. Her sound draws from soul and jazz while embracing folk, world music and more modern production, creating music that feels personal without being confined to a single genre.

Her artistic identity is equally broad. Music exists alongside painting, writing, ceramics and dance, and that multidisciplinary approach can be felt in the way she approaches songwriting: visually, emotionally and with a strong sense of narrative.

What makes this new chapter particularly interesting is that it isn’t concerned with starting over.

It is about arriving.

RECALIBRATED: THE REMIXES takes the uncertainty, questioning and self-examination associated with transformation and turns them into something more celebratory. The music feels like the moment after the difficult work has been done — when reflection gives way to movement.

For Amana Melome’, recalibration was never about becoming somebody else.

It was about finally giving herself permission to be exactly who she is.

And now, she is ready to dance.
