Doug doesn’t just run a record label, he runs a comeback. As CEO of DunDat Records and part of the management team behind Eastside Boyz, Doug, better known around the industry as “Dougie Fresh,” has spent 2026 pushing the group back into rotation with a new single that’s pulling in some serious hip-hop pedigree along the way.
Working alongside DayOne Management, which handles the group’s bookings, Doug’s fingerprints are all over the campaign, from the studio to the road. And the road has been busy. Rather than leaning solely on streaming numbers and social posts, the Eastside Boyz camp has been out promoting directly in markets like North Carolina, the kind of grassroots push that tends to separate a serious relaunch from a single dropped and forgotten.
A Single With Range
The record at the centre of it all is “Fantacy,” and the guest list reads like a deliberate attempt to bridge generations of Southern hip-hop. Kaine of the Ying Yang Twins lends his name to the track, alongside newer voices English Dream and Stoney Montanna, an original member of the Fat Boys has also been credited with contributing to the project, giving “Fantacy” a direct link back to one of hip-hop’s earliest crossover acts.
The song itself isn’t a single, uniform record either. Two distinct versions are reportedly circulating, a slower, R&B-leaning cut built around English Dream’s vocals, and a faster, bass-heavy club version handled by producer DJ Taz. It’s a split that lets the team work two rooms at once: radio and R&B playlists on one side, DJ sets and club rotation on the other, without forcing the song to compromise between the two.
A video shoot for “Fantacy” was scheduled for July 5 at Glenn Emerald Park in Atlanta, giving the single a visual to match, and bookings tied to the track have been rolling out alongside it.
An Old Favourite Gets a Second Look
In the middle of the “Fantacy” rollout, the group also brought back “Get It Low” featuring Raz B, promoted for a June 14 push. The track itself dates back to 2018, so this reads less like a new recording and more like a re-release or a renewed marketing effort, likely timed to keep longtime fans engaged while “Fantacy” introduces the group to new ones.
What’s Still Unconfirmed
Beyond the single, the bigger story may be an Eastside Boyz album, one that’s been discussed since at least April, when an interview suggested a release was just a month away. As of late July, no confirmed date or finished tracklist has surfaced publicly. Whether that’s a matter of timing or a project still taking shape behind the scenes isn’t clear, but it’s the piece of the puzzle most likely to define whether 2026 becomes a full-scale comeback or simply a strong run of singles.
